What a wonderful wedding day with Steph and John!

Their special day began with a traditional church wedding at St Mary's Church in Wistaston, Crewe. The church provided a stunning setting for their ceremony and some gorgeous photographs beforehand. Both inside and out, there were endless opportunities to capture special moments, while the magnificent stained-glass windows created a vibrant backdrop that added warmth and colour to the images.

As the ceremony unfolded, I was tucked away behind the choir pews near the altar, allowing me to discreetly capture Steph and John exchanging loving glances throughout the service. One particularly meaningful moment was when the priest performed a touching religious ritual, presenting the newlyweds with a peg to symbolise their marriage and represent God being at the centre of their relationship.

After the ceremony, family and friends gathered outside the church to celebrate the couple's first moments as husband and wife. The church grounds provided a spectacular setting for confetti photographs, with the picturesque porch creating the perfect backdrop as guests showered the newlyweds with confetti and well wishes.

Following the ceremony, I whisked Steph and John away for a short portrait session in the picturesque village of Maer. We had scheduled just 15 minutes so that they could quickly return to their family and friends, but even within that short time we managed to create some timeless and natural portraits.

My husband, Tom, joined us there and captured some incredible drone footage of the couple walking hand in hand down the road, with the iconic bridge behind them and lush greenery arching overhead. One of my favourite photographs from the day was an unplanned moment when Steph and John were being playful and making each other laugh. These authentic moments are always such a joy to capture.

I love taking couples away for a few moments immediately after the ceremony. It gives them the chance to pause, take everything in, and enjoy some quality time together before returning to the celebrations. After months of planning and anticipation, those first few moments as husband and wife are incredibly special. It was such a privilege to witness and capture them.

Once we had all the photographs we wanted, we headed back to The Swan with Two Necks, where the couple had hired a fabulous teepee for their reception. The space was adorned with twinkling lights and thoughtful personal touches throughout. Each table was lovingly named after places that held special meaning to the couple in Cornwall, adding a unique and personal element to the décor. Before the guests entered, I made sure to capture photographs of all the carefully planned details that Steph and John had worked so hard to create.

The teepee also provided a fantastic setting for the group photographs. We worked quickly to complete these before the weather turned and the heavens opened in true British fashion! Thankfully, we had already captured everything we needed, and guests soon retreated inside to continue the celebrations.

The atmosphere throughout the reception was wonderful as family and friends laughed, mingled, and tucked into a truly scrumptious meal. I spent the rest of the evening capturing candid moments and genuine interactions before quietly slipping away and leaving everyone to enjoy the remainder of the festivities.

As I headed home, I reflected on what had been such a joyful and memorable day. It was an absolute privilege to be part of Steph and John's wedding and to document the beginning of this exciting new chapter in their lives. I wish them every happiness for the future and many wonderful years together.
