Shelley's Laserdome Summer Session: A Day of Music, Dancing and Good Vibes
I’m finally getting around to blogging about the fabulous Shelley's Laserdome Summer Session that I attended a few weekends ago!
I was honoured to be asked back to photograph this event after photographing their huge annual celebration at Keele University last year. And if you loved seeing the photos from that event, keep your eyes peeled for their next big celebration on 14th November 2026 at Keele SU!
One of my favourite things about the Summer Session was that it was a day rave, with both an indoor room and an outdoor space, giving everyone the chance to enjoy the music in their own way. The atmosphere was fantastic from the moment I arrived, and just like last time, the crowd were absolutely brilliant. I even recognised a few friendly faces from the previous event, which made the day feel even more welcoming.
I arrived a couple of hours into the party, so Robbie Avery, Carl Williams, Jase Graham, Sean E C and Tech G had already most certainly warmed up the partygoers! When I arrived, Jon Dasilva was playing in the main room, while Ekcoe was keeping the energy going outside.
I have to admit, it was pretty difficult not to dance while I was photographing! The music was fantastic, the atmosphere was electric and the crowd were some of the friendliest people I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. It was also lovely to meet some of the ladies who have upcoming photography bookings with me. It’s always great to put faces to names and have a chance to chat before their upcoming shoots.
One of the most memorable moments of the day was meeting an older lady who had come along to the rave with her son. She told me that going to a rave had always been on her bucket list, so she decided to go for it and experience one for herself.
And honestly, I absolutely applaud her for that!
She was having the best time and looked like she was loving every minute of it. It was such a lovely reminder that you really are never too old to try something new, have an adventure and tick something off your bucket list. So, if you're reading this and have something sitting on your own bucket list, perhaps this is your sign to go and do it!
Throughout my time at the event, Jo-Dee, Mark XTC and Daz Willott also kept the beats coming, creating the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of dancing, fun and plenty of memorable moments.
As an event photographer, I absolutely love capturing these kinds of events. There is something so special about photographing people completely in the moment – dancing, laughing, enjoying themselves and creating memories with their friends. My aim is always to capture the atmosphere of the event, not just the posed photographs, so that everyone can look back and remember exactly how the day felt.
I’m really pleased with how the photographs from Shelley's Laserdome Summer Session turned out, and I hope everyone who attended enjoys looking back through them as much as I enjoyed taking them!
Although, next time, I’m seriously considering putting the camera down and heading into the crowd myself… because I definitely need to dance like crazy to some of the fabulous music on offer!
